Interview of Louis Hothothot, Director of IDFA 2021 Opening Film ‘Four Journeys’

We were honored to interview Director Louis Hothothot a few hours after the World Premiere of his deeply personal Four Journeys at the 2021 IDFA Opening Night.

As IDFA 2021 (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam) is coming to an end, after running in Amsterdam from November 17th to 28th, it is time for us to reflect on one of this year’s edition’s highlights, which was the World Premiere of Four Journeys by Chinese-born and Amsterdam-based artist Louis Hothothot. As we commented in our review, Four Journeys deals with the consequences of being born as an illegal second child in China, and proves to be “a remarkably bold quest to explore a traumatic past, using lightness to reveal heavy subjects, and paying tribute to the resilience of the ones who went through the hardest times”.

Discover the words of director Louis Hothothot, whom we were delighted to interview at IDFA 2021.
